Welcome!
Sunday School’s in Full Swing!
This year, all families attend worship at 9:30 a.m. Following the opening liturgy and readings, we will have a children’s sermon and then children will be dismissed to Sunday School. The second Sunday of each month there will be no Sunday School, and our whole church family will worship together. This will give an opportunity for all of our children to gather around the communion rail along with their families and experience the fullness of worship.
Children’s Christmas Program
“The Holiest Pet Shop” – Sunday, December 11, 2011
The children of House of Prayer delighted the congregation with this year’s Children’s Christmas Program, their interpretations of the story of the birth of Jesus. We felt filled with comfort and joy as we heard the greatest story, as told by our children.

Music School Notes
Music School starts Wednesday, September 14!!
Summer is a wonderful time to relax, re-energize, and recharge. This summer, God blessed me with many opportunities to do that. In June I traveled to Tanzania, to learn more about the Lutheran church there and be in community with the people. We also saw God’s animal creations and His beautiful landscapes. What a life-changing experience! I look forward to sharing songs that I learned — and be sure to watch the Adult Education schedule for my presentation about the trip!
In late July I spent two weeks in Colorado, visiting my family and taking a true vacation. Upon my return to Minneapolis, I jumped right in to Vacation Bible School, and my excitement for this coming year started to grow! I love spending time with our kids at church!
While I was at home this summer, I received an article from Bethany Lutheran Church in Denver. I’d like to share it with you:
Top Ten reasons to Join a Children’s Choir
1.) Choir allows children to praise with body, mind, spirit and voice!
2.) Choir helps children develop social skills and concepts of teamwork and cooperation.
3.) Choir helps children build confidence and better able to express ideas.
4.) Choir helps children develop creative problem-solving skills.
5.) Choir develops stronger and better readers.
6.) Choir combines text, melody, harmony, rhythm, and movement, activating the higher learning centers of the brain.
7.) Choir encourages discipline and concentration which carries over into other areas of young singers’ lives.
8.) Choir implants spiritual truth that the Holy Spirit can bring to remembrance in times of celebration or challenge.
9.) Choir gives children an opportunity to be worship leaders.
10.) Choir is FUN!
Children are a precious part of our community. Thank you for your support and acceptance of them as worship leaders. I ask you to pray about how you might have a spiritual role in the lives of our children. Consider ways to reach out to them in worship, as a Sunday School teacher, a Music School volunteer, or simply with interaction in the Narthex! How will you pass on our traditions to the next generation?
